To whom it may concern
For the last five months of my Dad’s life, he was able to stay in his home with relative
independence due to the support of Marianne Shirley.
Marianne moved in to my Dad’s home and for exchange for a room, she provided
wonderful care through practical assistance such as cooked meals, grocery shopping,
bringing the newspaper in, maintaining his garden and various small ad-hoc jobs
around the house. She even went on an unsuccessful mission to find a butcher that sold
rabbits to fulfil my Dad’s wish for a rabbit stew!
Having the support of Marianne was really meaningful to my Dad who was able to
maintain an empowering amount of control and a sense of independence. He also
enjoyed her personality and having companionship in the evenings.
From a family perspective, it was great to know that Dad had someone around that
could call for assistance, whether that was family or ambulance, if it was required.
I would recommend this kind of arrangement for other families and am happy to
provide a verbal reference as well.
